Abstract:
Objective: To find the association between neck pain and neck flexors endurance.
Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study was conducted with the sample size of 385. Data were collected from a private school of Gujrat from (September to December). Students (age 7-17years) filled out proforma and rated their neck pain on visual analogue scale. Neck flexor muscle endurance test was performed by the participants and holding time was recorded by the researcher in seconds. On the basis of endurance cut-off values, each participant was categorized having normal or sub-normal endurance. Reason to stop the test was noted. The data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Findings were then interpreted using Chi-square test and Spearman’s correlation.
Results: The results had been obtained after analyzing the data collected from 385 participants which showed that weak negative association (r=-0.299) was found between gender of the participants and neck flexors endurance that was shown statistically significant difference with p-value< 0.001. Association between neck flexors endurance and neck pain was not found statistically significant difference and p-value 0.676. Weak positive association was found between age of the participants and NFME test (r=0.205) and p-value<0.001 showing results are significant. Association between age of the participants and neck flexors endurance was not found statistically significant with p-value=0.432.
Conclusion: Weak negative association was found between gender of the participants and neck flexors endurance. Association between neck flexors endurance and neck pain was not found to have statistically significant difference. Weak positive association was found between age of the participants and NFME test. Association between age of the participants and neck flexors endurance was not found statistically significant.
